No user-verifiable Merkle-tree proof-of-reserves programme found (2026-08-10). Substitute assurance instead, per Bitstamp’s own transparency post: financial statements audited annually since 2016 by a global "big four" firm (the firm is not named on any source checked, so it is not named here), ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification, and daily reconciliation against third-party custodians; since the Robinhood acquisition additionally group reporting by an SEC-reporting listed company.

Trustpilot 1.4/5 (1,032 reviews, checked 2026-08-10) as a complaint-pattern proxy. Sampling caveat, stated because the proxy is not like-for-like here: no paid Trustpilot subscription and only 81 reviews in the last 12 months, so the sample is complaint-driven rather than invitation-driven. Dominant themes: account freezes, KYC delays, withdrawal access.

Trading and deposits were suspended for about a week while systems were rebuilt and cold storage moved into a Xapo multi-signature setup; all affected customer balances were reimbursed from company funds — no customer lost money.

Not investment advice. Skontro is not a CASP under MiCAR. Reliability Scores are information, not recommendations: every negative datapoint is dated and sourced, the methodology is public, and no exchange can pay to change a score.
